Al Gurr pianist, bassist, and keyboard player

Al Gurr is a multi-instrumentalist, performer, producer, arranger and writer who has worked with countless performers as a pianist, bassist, and keyboard player in the pop, jazz and classical worlds.. Al studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire and since then has gone on to work with many celebrities including Lesley Garrett and Mario Frangoulis from the classical world, jazz singers Jacqui Scott and Sara Colman and actors Jenny Agutter and John Nettles. Al is an outstanding musician who has made a name for himself in a wide variety of different contexts, arranging and producing as well as playing piano and bass. His recent work with Hayley Westenra, Blake, Alfie Boe, Lorna Luft, Jonathan Ansell, and members of the CBSO on a series of Gershwin concerts at all the major UK concert venues, testifies to his versatility. He has also broadcast live for Classic FM, Friday Night is Music Night and The Arts Programme, worked with Angela Rippon and David Jacobs on a tribute to Stephane Grappelli, and appeared Live on the Television shows This Morning and the Gloria Hunniford Show.He accompanied Alfie Boe at a private concert for Prince Charles at his Wiltshire home. He runs his own recording studio, Algorithm Studios, and is currently writing a book entitled The Shape of Contemporary Harmony.
