Having
graduated with a first-class honours degree in music at Leeds University (BA
Hons), David studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (LGSM –
Jazz). A
freelance jazz musician for 14 years – he teaches, performs, does recordings
and composes. He
has worked with many instrumentalists and vocalists on the current London
jazz scene, including Theo Travis, Pat Crumly and Allison Neale. He
has made commercial recordings with the Alison Bentley Quintet, the Caroline Taylor
Quintet and the Rob Hall Quartet. He
undertook British Council-sponsored tours with Alison Bentley (1997), and
Caroline Taylor (1999). David
has been an examiner with the jazz
panel for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music since 2001. He was the musical director for
“Legends of the Blues” at London’s Bridewell Theatre, July 2004. Back |
