28 Years of Experience
With a rich history spanning over a quarter-century, LMFL continues to be a trusted destination for those seeking not just education but an immersive and transformative experience in the world of music and language. The first LMFL summer course was held in Surrey in England in August 1998 and has grown in size and quality ever since.
We strive to create a vibrant community where students not only excel in their chosen disciplines but also form lasting connections and cherished memories with tutors and peers alike.
Our Students
LMFL thrives on diversity. We welcome students of all ages and levels, fostering an inclusive international community where the shared passion for music and languages unites us. Each year, we welcome students from all over the globe - from Hong Kong to Los Angeles, and far beyond!
Our student-base consists of:
Beginner & Junior Learners - those embarking on their musical journey or under the age of 10
Amateur to Intermediate Musicians - those with a minimum of Grade 5 in at least one instrument.
Future Professionals (Advanced) - those preparing for conservatoires or other higher education programmes.
The Student-Teacher Connection
Fostering a strong student-teacher connection is the heart of our educational philosophy. Students and teachers work, live and eat in the same environment. They interact with one another beyond the classroom, allowing for a more enriching and holistic mentorship. LMFL truly resembles a family.
Our Philosophy
Music learning transcends mere performance; it is an integral part of the dynamic evolution of the whole individual. One learns while changing and changes while learning. Similarly, we learn languages not just to communicate but to live fully - to connect with those around us and to deepen our understanding the world.
Therefore, we strive to not only provide the highest quality of education, but make a real difference in our students’ lives. Our courses go beyond the technical aspects of their chosen instruments, encouraging students to explore and understand themselves on a more profound level.
Our Tuition
Music
Our music tuition emphasizes personalized, one-on-one instruction in jazz and classical genres. Optional modules provide opportunities for students to explore diverse interests in group settings alongside their individual classes.
Languages
Our language instruction focuses on enhancing spoken communication and listening skills. Students join casual conversational groups by default, and may also join smaller groups with a structured approach to grammar and vocabulary. Intensive, individual mentorship classes are also available. We offer classes in English, French, Spanish, Italian, and German.
