The Town
Giggleswick is a small picturesque country village on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It has a parish church dating back to the 15th century and the magnificent Giggleswick chapel built to commemorate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria. A few minutes’ walk from the School and the other side of the river Ribble is the pretty town of Settle.
Settle is a charming market town nestled in the scenic Yorkshire Dales of North Yorkshire, England. Surrounded by rolling hills and limestone crags, it offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and historic character. The town is known for its traditional stone buildings, weekly markets, and proximity to the famous Settle–Carlisle Railway, which features breathtaking views of the countryside. With easy access to walking trails, caves, and waterfalls, Settle is a popular base for outdoor enthusiasts exploring the Dales. Its relaxed pace, cafes and fascinating shops make it a delightful destination all year-round.
Concerts
At the end of the course, there will be two concerts.
The teachers’ concert will take place at 8pm on Saturday, 18th July, and the students’ concert will start in the late afternoon and continue in the evening of Sunday, 19th July.
All students are invited to perform and an accompanist is provided when necessary. The concerts are public and normally recorded. Participants are therefore requested to bring concert dress with them: white shirt, black bow tie, black trousers or skirt, or national code dress and decent shoes.

Key Information
-
The Course Directors reserve the right to cancel the course if the number of applicants is deemed to be too low 3 months before the starting date of the course. In this instance, the total amount already paid will be refunded in full and no other type of compensation will be given.
If a participant decides to cancel before the 1st of May 2026 the deposit or basic fee shall not be refunded. If cancellation takes place after 01/05/2026, no refund of the minimum registration fees or total fees will be possible.
The balance of fees is due on or before 1st May 2026 after which date any reserved accommodation not paid for in full will be re-let.
We strongly recommend that you take out insurance to cover cancellation costs.
-
Unless accompanied by a parent or guardian no student under 18 years of age may leave the school premises without the permission of the Course Director or his deputy. If an unaccompanied participant asks for permission to leave the school premises this will be given on the condition that he/she is accompanied by a responsible adult.
Students in possession of a written authorisation from their legal guardian/parents will be authorised to leave the school premises in the afternoon/evening without supervision – but a copy of this authorisation must be sent to the Course Director by mail before the start of the course. We want to emphasize that we do not favour this kind of authorization. However, if the Course Directors feel that the junior student abuses that authorisation and puts himself/herself at risk, the authorization will be cancelled. This is not negotiable.
Senior group participants are not affected by the above arrangement but in cases of anti-social behaviour senior participants will be asked to leave the course and the premises without any refund possible. Any decision on a disciplinary issue is the sole responsibility of the Course Director.

Please make sure you are eligible for a visa. In most cases you can obtain a visa on entry to the United Kingdom. It is advisable to ensure that your passport will be valid for a minimum of 6 months from the date of entry into UK.
Electronic Travel Authorisations (ETAs) are being introduced worldwide for visitors to the UK who do not currently need a visa for short stays, or who do not already have a UK immigration status.
Eligible Europeans and non-Europeans need an ETA to travel to the UK.
An ETA is a digital permission to travel – it is not a visa and does not permit entry into the UK – it authorises a person to travel to the UK.
Applying for an ETA is quick and simple. Visitors should apply in advance and find out when to do so on GOV.UK.
An ETA currently costs £16 and permits multiple journeys to the UK for stays of up to six months at a time over two years or until the holder’s passport expires – whichever is sooner.
If you are in doubt as to whether you will need a visa for your stay, you should contact the nearest British Consulate or consult the UK Government website on entry requirements.
Giggleswick School has a very strict indoors non-smoking policy. Anyone breaking this rule in their bedroom or in the common rooms will be asked to leave the course and there will be no refund of fees.
