About Madeleine

Violinist Madeleine Mitchell, who has been a professor at the Royal College of Music in London for many years, has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in 50 countries, covering a diverse repertoire. Additionally, Mitchell is highly sought after as a teacher, offering master classes to students of all ages and levels worldwide. Notably, she was a finalist in the European Women of Achievement Awards and earned a Royal Philharmonic Society Award for her innovative project connecting art and music on film (on YouTube) with the London Chamber Ensemble, which she founded and directs.

Mitchell, a scholar at the Royal College of Music, won the Tagore Gold Medal and the Fulbright/ITT Fellowship to further her studies, obtaining a master’s degree in New York, where she studied at the Eastman and Juilliard Schools.

Renowned for her recitals and imaginative programming, Mitchell has graced prestigious venues such as London’s Southbank Centre and Wigmore Hall as well as Lincoln Center New York and the Sydney Opera House. Her performances have been broadcast on the BBC, as well as on TV and radio in Australia, the Far East, Europe, USA, and South Africa. Recent tours include Japan, USA and Turkey, with Brazil in 2026. Notably, Mitchell has performed concertos with orchestras including the BBC and the Royal Philharmonic as well as with the St Petersburg Philharmonic, Czech and Polish Radio Symphony, Kyiv Radio TV Orchestra and in the USA.

Mitchell's acclaimed discography, nominated for Grammy and BBC Music Awards, includes works written for her by well known composers, the popular 'Violin Songs,' and several albums of early C20 British music, including the London Chamber Ensemble Quartet 2026.

For over a decade, Madeleine has been a regular tutor on LMFL courses in the UK and Europe.
